Global Coworking Survey Presentation (2018 Coworking Europe)

This 2018 conference presentation reported selected European findings from the 2018 Global Coworking Survey. Presented at Coworking Europe in Amsterdam on 14 November 2018, it examined the location, membership, physical size and operating characteristics of coworking spaces. The slides showed that 33% of European spaces were in cities with at least one million inhabitants, while 15% were in cities of 500,000 to one million, 27% in cities of 100,000 to 500,000 and 25% in places below 100,000 inhabitants. The presentation reported an overall mean of 168 members per space, a 5% trimmed mean of 91 and a median of 42. Average floor area was reported as 881 square metres. It also compared European and global operating characteristics, including private-office provision, revenue share, the number of locations operated and customer focus. In Europe, 71% of surveyed entities operated only one coworking space. The final section compared local partnerships, with purpose-driven organisations identified as the most common partner category in both the European and global results.
