Results of the 2019 Global Coworking Survey – A view on segmentation (Deskmag)

This 2019 conference presentation reported findings from the 2019 Global Coworking Survey and examined differences among coworking members based on their previous workplace and who decided to purchase their membership. It compared global and European results, reporting that 38% of members in both groups had previously worked from a home office, while 27% globally and 28% in Europe had come from traditional offices. The slides also separated members who chose a coworking space themselves from those whose employer or client made the decision. Members who selected their own space represented 76% of the sample, reported stronger attachment and rated locations more positively; they also tended to choose flexible desks and attend less often. The 22% whose employer or client selected the space attended more frequently, worked more often in private offices and were more commonly located in larger cities. A section on European member turnover reported a 4.8% trimmed monthly churn rate, alongside a 7.5% mean. It also indicated that 82% of members were not planning to leave or expected to remain for at least another year, while 7% planned to leave within three months.

- Members chose their coworking space themselves in 76% of cases, while an employer or client made the choice in 22%.
