Flex Workspace Client Survey Europe 2020

MatchOffice’s 2020 Client Survey reported how more than 1,000 clients from 23 countries viewed European serviced offices during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conducted for the sixth consecutive year, the research examined office use, contract types and lengths, renewal intentions, facilities and services, perceived disadvantages, reasons for choosing flexible workspace, and satisfaction. It also compared many 2020 responses with results from 2019. The survey found that 16% of respondents had used a serviced office since quarantine measures were introduced. Contract decisions reflected uncertainty: 44% had not decided whether to renew, 35% did not plan to renew, and 21% intended to continue. Short contracts were common, with 22.5% of respondents reporting terms of up to one month and 21.1% reporting terms of one to three months. Conference facilities and cleaning or maintenance ranked as the most important services, while use of shared amenities such as kitchens, lounges and canteens had fallen sharply. Flexibility to downsize or expand was the leading stated reason for choosing a serviced office over a traditional office, while location and price were the principal factors behind respondents’ choice of their current workspace. Most respondents reported that their serviced office had met their expectations to a high or very high degree.
