MatchOffice Survey Report 2021

The 2021 MatchOffice Industry Survey Report presented findings from 1,317 flexible workspaces across 55 countries after a year of the COVID-19 pandemic. MatchOffice described the study as the seventh edition of its annual industry research. The report examined how the pandemic had influenced workspace operations and office workflows, alongside occupancy, achieved and expected prices, initial contract lengths and operators’ business outlook. Its European overview indicated that occupancy remained concentrated in the lower bands: 32% of respondents reported occupancy below 60%, while 25% reported occupancy between 60% and 69%. European operators also reported adapting commercial terms, with larger shares offering shorter contracts and achieving lower prices than in the previous year. Despite these conditions, respondents generally anticipated improvement over the following six months, particularly in occupancy and pricing. The country sections provided separate comparisons with 2020 for Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden, while the table of contents also listed sections covering Asia and North America. The visible Belgian and Danish results illustrated differing national conditions, including stronger optimism about future pricing in Belgium and continued expectations of price weakness in Denmark.
