Carrefour Property, the largest owner of shopping centers in Spain, launches a new concept that includes coworking: work city.
Work City will convert shopping centers into spaces for work, leisure, gastronomy, and shopping.
The first one will open in Puerta de Alicante in early 2024 but the plan is to roll it out all across its 115 centers in Spain.
The 22,000 sqm of Puerta de Alicante will be revamped and divided into three floors, of which 10,900 sqm will be used for the retail area, 7,500 sqm for flexible offices, and sqm for restaurants.
“The project represents a paradigm shift in the shopping center sector in our country. It is the first of this magnitude to be launched under the new concept of Work City, which combines new uses and services and adds value to existing retailers who will have a disruptive value-added experience for consumers and the community,” said Lola Bañón, general director of Carrefour Property Spain.
