Belgium’s Largest Coworking Operator Silversquare Announces Leadership Transition

Belgium’s largest coworking operator Silversquare is undergoing a leadership transition after 14 years of steady growth. Co-founder and co-CEO Alexandre Ponchon, who helped expand the company from a single site to 12 locations across Belgium, has announced that he is stepping aside. Axel Kuborn, co-founder and co-CEO, will continue to lead the company, now joined by Geoffroy Speybrouck, former CEO of Belgian coworking competitor MeetDistrict.
Silversquare was founded in Brussels in 2008 and has since grown into the leading coworking brand in Belgium, with a network of over a dozen locations in Brussels, Liège, and Luxembourg. The company was acquired in 2018 by Belgian real estate group Befimmo, which has since integrated Silversquare as part of its strategy to diversify into flexible workspace solutions. Silversquare’s sister brand, Sparks, focuses on conference and meeting spaces, complementing its coworking offering.
In his farewell message, Ponchon reflected on 14 years of entrepreneurship and on Silversquare’s evolution from a startup to a national leader in the coworking market. The appointment of Geoffroy Speybrouck marks a new chapter for the company. Speybrouck, who previously led MeetDistrict, brings direct experience from a key competitor in Belgium’s flex workspace sector. His arrival signals continuity in Silversquare’s growth strategy, while Axel Kuborn’s ongoing leadership ensures stability.
With this transition, Silversquare continues to consolidate its position as the country’s largest coworking operator, leveraging the backing of the Real Estate owner Befimmo.
Silversquare is a historical strong supporter of Coworking Europe.
