Giving a value to coworking communities – Social graph, Metrics and Human approach (JCCO)

In 2025, this conference slide deck by Yuta Aoki of JCCO introduced a discussion of how coworking communities could be valued through social graphs, metrics and a human approach. The deck described JCCO as the Japan Coworking Space and Community Manager Organization and outlined its work in Japan. Its stated vision was to spread significant coworking spaces across the country for users, operators, owners and society. Its mission focused on developing community managers capable of building valuable communities and making community a tangible source of added value in real-estate management. Examples of JCCO’s activities included coworking market research and reporting with Carsten, a certified community-manager training programme, coworking-space tours, and domestic and international training delivered at the request of Japan’s central government. The introductory slides also presented Aoki’s roles in JCCO, Funky Jump and BIRTH, alongside references to his authorship of a book about coworking spaces. The closing slides summarised the presentation’s central position: community was treated as capital rather than as a cost, and its value merited systematic examination.
