Stockholm Operator The Works Turns Another Transitional Building Into Modern Flexible Workspace

Swedish coworking operator The Works has opened a new flexible workspace in central Stockholm, expanding its current network to eight locations in the city.
Founded in 2017, The Works has built its business around activating transitional properties. Buildings that might otherwise remain vacant, allowing the operator to offer affordable offices and coworking space in Stockholm at significantly lower costs than traditional office space. The company aims to create a better match between property owners and occupiers while extending the useful life of existing buildings.
The new centre occupies approximately 1,000 sqm on the fifth floor of the building. The workspace includes 35 private office suites ranging in size from 9 sqm to around 40 sqm, targeting small businesses, startups, and growing teams seeking private workspace on flexible terms.
In addition to private offices, members have access to shared meeting rooms, drop-in workspaces, and a range of services included within the membership. These include Wi-Fi, coffee and tea, printing facilities, mail handling, cleaning services, digital access keys, and meeting room booking options.
A notable feature of the project is its focus on circular fit-out and furniture reuse. According to The Works, much of the furniture has been sourced second-hand, including pieces acquired from property owner and furniture previously used at another Stockholm flexible workspace location. The operator said it prioritises reused furniture before purchasing new items as part of its sustainability strategy.
Since launch, The Works has managed more than 70,000 sqm of office space across Stockholm, ranging from smaller coworking locations to entire office buildings. The operator currently runs eight locations and has four additional openings planned.
