Coworking Europe 2012 – Paris

In 2012, Global Enterprise, ARD and La Fonderie partnered to organize the third European Coworking Conference. The event was held in Paris (November 8- 10th).

The Paris Region Economic Development Agency (ARD) was set up to match businesses’ needs and the regional offer. ARD has five key remits set out by the regional council: promote the economic attractiveness of the region abroad, attract foreign investors to Paris Region, coordinate the marketing of the regional offer, help investors prior to and during their location to Paris Region and support areas facing economic changes.

La Fonderie 
Associated body of the Ile-de-France Regional Council, La fonderie (former ARTESI Ile-de-France) is the regional ICT development agency. Its main objective is to support the Regional Council in forecasting, implementing and evaluating ICT regional policies. La fonderie acts as a catalyst for a wide range of targets, including SMEs, non-profit associations and public local authorities in their appropriation process of ICT.

Head of the Google Coworking Campus, London (UK)

Eze Vidra is the Head of Campus, Google’s dedicated co-working, event and incubation space for startup companies in London. Prior to leading Campus, Eze was a strategic partnerships manager at Google, spearheading commerce offerings in Europe. He co-founded a technology startup in Israel in 2003 and is a passionate writer on startups and venture capital on his blog VC Cafe.

JENNIFER MAGNOLFI,
Zappos Coworking Campus, Las Vegas (US)

Jennifer Magnolfi is an Advanced R&D Projects Consultant in the corporate real estate industry. She currently oversees the Coworking initiative for Downtown Project, Zappos.com (one of the biggest e-commerce company in the US) founder Tony Hsieh’s investment fund driving the revitalization of downtown Las Vegas. Jennifer also co-authored the book “Always Building: The programmable environment“.

CARSTEN FOERTSCH,
Co-founder Deskmag, Berlin (Germany)

Carsten is editor of Deskmag.com and co-founder of Deskwanted.com. With his academic background as social scientist, he is passionate about new trends in urban affairs and the creative labor market, two things which are perfectly combined in the concept of coworking. Instead of just analyzing it, he decided to be a part of it, by encouraging it and putting it on the map through Deskmag and Deskwanted.

Joint Global Head of Workplace Strategy Group at CBRE, London (UK)

Ben Munn is Joint Global Head of the Workplace Strategy Group at CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), one of the biggest Real Estate broker and advisory firm in the world. Ben leads a team of diverse experts developing and delivering holistic workplace strategies that support the transformation of his clients’ businesses. Ben has extensive experience in workplace, property, and business change strategies.  

TONY BACIGALUPO ,
Co-founder New Work City, New York (US)

Tony Bacigalupo has cofounded New Work City, worked with the Downtown Alliance to build the Hive at 55, and has advised and worked with countless other communities in New York and around the world. He also co-authored a “I’m OUtta Here: How coworking is making the office obsolete” and continues to work on helping grow the independent workforce.

LIZ ELAM,
Link Coworking, GCUC Coworking Conference, Austin (US)

Liz Elam opened Link Coworking in Austin (Texas), in september 2010. She is a recognized leader in the national coworking scene and produced the Global Coworking Unconference Conference (GCUC) 2012 the day before SXSW Interactive. Besides, Liz is founding member of the League of Extraordinary Coworking Spaces (LEXC) and is serving as the first President.

Guzmán de Yarza Blache is an architect, visual artist, academic and Director of the Master in Work Space Design by the IE School of Architecture, an international program that addresses the implications of change in our contemporary work place and intends to educate professionals in the design processes of innovative and future work environments.

RICHARD COLLIN,
Director of the Enterprise 2.0 Institute, Grenoble Mgt. School (France)

Richard Collin is a university professor and the director of the Enterprise 2.0 Institute at the Grenoble Management School. He is one of the most famous thinker of the distibuted economy in Europe. Besides his research and teaching activities, Richard Collin is an executive partner of Next Modernity, an advisory firm in the field of entreprise 2.0.

JASPER MULLER,
Director of Acquisition & Investment Citizen M hotels, Amsterdam (The Netherlands)

Jasper Muller worked in the real estate advisory teams at consulting firms and is a graduate of the Amsterdam School of Real Estate. As Acquisition & Investment Director Jasper is responsible for sourcing suitable development opportunities and partnerships for the roll out of citizenM hotels, including the ‘SocietyM’ concept. SocietyM is an initiative from citizenM hotels. It was created for a new type of workers : those who aren’t bound by offices or office conventions, wanderers doing business wherever the connectivity’s good and the coffee fresh. 

ALEXIS MOTTE,
CEO of Mobilitis, Paris (Fr)

Alexis Motte is CEO of Mobilitis, an advisory company operating in the field of business real estate, co-founded in the early 2000’s. Mobilitis rethinks the work environment to take into account societal changes such as the porosity between private / professional life, the need for a better wellness at work, the rising flexibility of the operations, etc. Mobilitis supports managers in their research of adequate real estates solutions taking into account the changing needs of the workforce.

ALEX HILLMAN,
Co-founder IndyHall, Philadelphia (US)

Alex is best known for starting Philadelphia’s Indy Hall coworking community in 2006, years before coworking became a darling of the mainstream press and workers around the globe. Since, Indy Hall and Alex’s work have been featured in national and international publications. He’s a well respected coach & instructor for other aspiring community builders and coworking catalysts. Many credit Alex with their starts.

OLIVIA CZETWERTYNSKI,
Co-manager utopic_US, Madrid (Spain)

Olivia Czetwertynski is Responsible of Communication and Marketing of utopic_US and works on its expansion since its opening, in 2012. She’s participating actively in the development of the coworking movement in Spain, she co-organizes the first Coworking Spain Conference in May of 2012. Olivia held a Master Degree in Advertising Management, she’s specialized in Social Media strategies and campaigns and worked as Account Director in main advertising agencies in Belgium, Canada and Spain. 

JEAN-BAPTISTE ROGER,
CEO of La Fonderie and co-founder of La Cantine, Paris (France)

Jean-Baptiste Roger is the CEO of the Paris Region Agency for Digital Development “La Fonderie”. Graduated in political science and former parliamentary attaché, Jean-Baptiste worked six years as a political adviser for the President of the Paris Region before becoming CEO of “La Fonderie” in November 2011. Jean-Baptiste is also a founding member of the first coworking place in Paris “La Cantine”.

BRAD KRAUSKOPF,
Founder of The Hub Melbourne, Melbourne (Australia)

Brad has grown Hub Melbourne to be Australia’s largest coworking community in Australia. With a unique mix of 700 innovators from across small business, community, corporate, government and education, Hub Melbourne is a hive of activity that aims to drive innovation through collaboration. He has recently kickstarted the co-creation of Hub Sydney. His Third Spaces project works with corporate, government and developers to design and manage work hubs around Australia.

CAROLINA RENDEIRO,
CEO RightSpace Management, Miami (US)

Carolina Rendeiro is a recognized leader and veteran of the Global Workspace Industry. She served as President of Global Workspace Association, 2009-2011. Carolina along with her business partner Annette, have opened 2 Coworking spaces in Miami, this year under the brand of RightSpace2Meet. Both spaces serving two very distinct communities. RightSpace2Meet@Miami Innovation Center, is located within the University of Miami Life Science Technology Park.

ALBERTO BASSI,
Founder LAB 121, Alessandria (Italy)
Alberto Bassi is one of the founder of lab121 association, a non-profit coworking community in Alessandria, north-western Italy. Lab121 is merging the strengths of coworkers, of coworking centre, of local public institutions and private investors making bigger the coworking network and self-help opportunities for both. Lab121 will held in September 2012 the first national coworking conference in Italy.

MARIE KHAYAT,
Co-founder Soleilles Cowork, Paris (France)

Marie KHAYAT is a consultant for Social Media, Enterprise 2.0 & Coworking . She cofounded Soleilles Cowork, an innovative collaborative workspace in the center of Paris, foreign and women friendly, bringing new paradigms for the success of all nomads. She focuses on the new ways of working and collaborating within organizations as well as for independents.

CLEMENT ALTERESCO,
Co-founder Parisoma, Paris/San Francisco (France)

Clement Alteresco co-founded PARISOMA, a coworking space & community in the heart of San Francisco. Clement is also a partner at the innovation agency, faberNovel. Most recently, he has founded Bureaux A Partager (Share Your Office), a market place for companies looking to share offices.

SUSAN EVANS,
Co-founder Office Nomads, Seattle (US)

Susan Evans started Office Nomads in Seattle in 2007 with business partner Jacob Sayles. With a background in sociology, she strongly believes that coworking spaces play a key role in the health of cities, neighborhoods, and social ecosystems worldwide. Susan firmly thinks the Coworking movement will continue to positively impact the world for generations to come if we stay focused on he values of openness, sustainability, community, accessibility and collaboration.

MATTHIAS WIEMANN,
Initiator of the Coworking Manifesto campaign, Munich (Germany)

Matthias Wiemann is a software architect and researcher in the field of social, curation & community building. He gained several years of experience in the space of Coworking and community building with events like his critically acclaimed hackanoon – the hackathon in the afternoon. He founded GoodCoworking and a website to sign the Coworking Manifesto. Due to his job he travels a lot and coworks frequently.


DENIS THELLIER,
Founder Integral Business Services, Lille (France)

Denis Thellier, a former banker, opened Integral Business Center (IBS) two years ago in Lille, in the north of France. IBS is a business centre providing small and medium companies with facilities and customer focused B2B services. On top of its services, IBS tried out coworking before partnering with Coworking Lille, a local independent coworking space.

PAUL STASSE,
Co-founder Bloomdesk, Brussels (Belgium)

Paul Stasse believes their is no reason why the real estate industry couldn’t tap in the huge potential of collective intelligence. BloomDesk, he co-founded, is born out of the challenges that the property and real estate industry will face tomorrow. After 15 years of working has an architect & project manager on large property developments, Paul understands the operational needs of the end user at the early stages of design.

KLARA DE SMEDT,
De Winkelhaak – Bar d’Office, Antwerp (Belgium)

Klara De Smedt is manager of DESIGNCENTER | DE WINKELHAAK, in Antwerp, Belgium. She has been involved in the development of this incubator for creative entrepreneurship from the very start. In 2011, Klara launched and developed the coworking concept “Bar d’office”, initially within her design incubator. Since then, other “Bar d’office” spaces have opened around Flanders.  

THILO UTKE,
Co-founder Co.Up Coworking, Berlin (Germany)

Thilo co-founded co.up, a space for software developers in Berlin that began as a side project of his web agency in 2007. He loves the diversity of coworking and wants to enable everybody to run a space. Beside programming and coworking, he helps and advises various local projects, e.g. Rails Girls Berlin. Thilo is also involved in cobot.me, a management software for coworking spaces, created at co.up.

JOHN MILHADO,
Executive director Europe Alliance Business Center Network, Utrecht (NL)

John Milhado is the executive-director Europe of the Alliance Business Center Network (ABCN), a privately-held corporation supporting independent business center operators wishing to improve their competitive position. In 1984, he joined the Euro Business Center group. EBC has now four business centers in the Netherlands. John Milhado is a former president of the Dutch Business Center Association. 

ILKKA KAKKO,
Founder Global Oasis Network Coworking, Joensuu (Finland)

A few years ago, llkka Kakko and his team created and started a coworking space netWork Oasis, currently operated by Joensuu Science Park in Finland. His consultancy firm, Karostech Ltd, is focused in the creation and facilitation of innovation environments, the development on collaborative networked organizations (CNOs) and the design and management of coworking spaces. Lately, Ilkka Kakko has started a PhD study to be completed in 2013, on the topic of serendipity (cfr www.respectserendipity.com).

MATTIA SULINI,

Co-founder 22A|22 Coworking, Florence – Cowo Network (Italy)

Mattia Sulini worked as a freelance 3D visualization artist, back since 2001. His usual work field ranges from the visualization of interiors, to the industrial design, to the environmental simulations of projected buildings. Three year ago, Mattia restored an ex-workshop with the aim of trying to give an answer to such needs and co-founded 22A|22. 22A|22, member of the Cowo network in Italy, isn’t only a coworking space. It’s an area for events and experience sharing among creative people.

LINDA BROUGHTON,
Founder Old Broadcasting House Coworking, Leeds (UK)

Linda established the North of England’s first coworking space in November 2007 at Old Broadcasting House, Leeds Metropolitan University. She has grown this to a thriving events and coworking space of tech-based start-ups and freelancers, where students and graduates work alongside more experienced professionals in a community model that challenges the traditional University incubator offer.

ERIC VAN DEN BROEK,
Co-founder Mutinerie, Paris (France)

Eric has cofounded Mutinerie, one of the most influential french coworking space. Mutinerie has been noticed for its particular vision of coworking, collaboration and work life in general. Mutinerie has rapidly become a recognized coworking space both nationally and internationally.

RAMON SUAREZ,
Co-founder BetaGroup Coworking, Brussels (Belgium)

Ramon is the cofounder of the Betagroup Coworking Brussels, a space created around the largest community of Internet, tech and mobile professionals and entrepreneurs in Brussels. Entrepreneur and marcom professional, he es also the cofounder of Startup Weekend Brussels and actively promotes the Belgian tech startup ecosystem through different initiatives. The space was born on the first day of our first Coworking Europe conference in 2010.

LUKA PISKORIC,
Co-founder Slovenia Coworking, Lubjana (Slovenia)

Luka is a creative industries specialist who in 1995 started co-managing and working as web designer in the first Slovenian coworking space – DTP KGB, founded by Open Society Institute in Ljubljana. He initiated Slovenia Coworking to promote coworking as an important collaborative platform that can create new social and economical opportunities. He works as strategic marketing consultant at Memo Institut and manages Poligon, institute for development of creative industries.

OLIVER MARLOW,
Designer and co-founder of Tilt Studio, London (UK)

Oliver Marlow is an interdisciplinary designer and co-founder of TILT. TILT specialise in designing coworking spaces and furniture, emphasising adaptive social environments as drivers of collaboration and innovation. Oliver has led the development of TILT’s own unique design methodology that engages people in co-designing a space. TILT’s recent work has led Oliver to deliver co-design workshops all over the world, including Sao Paulo, Las Vegas and Shanghai. Believing strongly in the transformative power of art and design Oliver sees the work of TILT as a cumulation of his many practices.

LISA LOMBARDI,

Co-ordinator of the CoWallonia network, Namur (Belgium)

Lisa is an expert at the Agence Wallonne des Télécommunications (AWT) where she is currently in charge of coordinating a network of 8 coworking spaces called CoWallonia. CoWallonia is part of Creative Wallonia, a governmental program aiming to boost creativity and innovation in the Wallonia region. Wallonia aimed to act as a precursor in recognizing and promoting coworking as a way to foster collaboration, build innovative communities and develop creative ecosystems.

BAPTISTE BROUGHTON,
Co-founder LBMG Worklabs, Project Director Neo-nomade.com, Paris (Fr)

Baptiste BROUGHTON is co-founder of LBMG Worklabs and Project Director for neo-nomade.com. After working 5 years in consulting (Accenture), where he discovered a passion for rethinking traditional work organisation, he has taken the lead of the neo-nomade project which aims at developing innovative solutions to connect individuals and corporations with flexible, collaborative workspaces.

STEPHANIE BOOTH,
Founder eclau Coworking, Lausanne (Switzerland)

Stephanie Booth founded eclau, Switzerland’s oldest coworking space, in 2008. Two years of working from home as a freelance social media consultant and the pressure of organizing an international conference inspired this veteran blogger to take the plunge and create a sustainable, bootstrapped, and cat-enabled workspace for other professionals like her.

CECILIA DURIEU,
Co-founder of eWorky, Paris (Fr)

Cecilia Durieu is the cofounder of eWorky (http://www.eworky.com), a community marketplace for workspace, and of Greenworking (http://www.greenworking.fr), a consulting firm specialized in the development of new ways of working. Cecilia advises large caps and SME. She also worked on the 2012 Greenworking study on telecommuting in 20 french large companies. With eWorky, she aims at developing coworking and collaborative consumption applied to workspace.

NICOLAS BERGE,
Co-founder Les Satellites, Nice (Fr)

Nicolas Bergé has cofounded Les Satellites , Nice, and has collaborated with many communities in the French Riviera. Coworking has helped Nicolas Bergé sense the pulse of the talented people living in Nice and around. Today, Nicolas Bergé is working to make Nice a nicer place for independants and entrepreneurs.

AURELIE KHALIDI,
Co-founder at L’Atelier des Médias, Lyon (Fr)

Aurélie Khalidi has created ORANGE VIF as freelance art director in 2007. She joined the first coworking space to appear in Lyon, France – ‘l’Atelier des Medias‘ and has been an active member since its conception in 2011. The coworking space is founded on a co-operative and participatory ideal, with each member contributing their individual skills and experience. 

 

GEORGE KATSOURIS,
Co-founder Synergy Project, Athens (Greece)

Co-founder of Synergy Project, a coworking space in Athens. George studied maritime business and worked as member of the legal department in shipping companies. He firmly believes that changing the working model through collaboration, would have a huge impact in one’s business networking, productivity and creativity. 

 

GENEVIEVE MORAND,
Founder Muse Geneva & Lausanne, Geneva (Switzerland)

Geneviève Morand founded Muse Geneva in 2009 on a private-public-academic partnership. The legendary picnic, every Monday in Muse Geneva and every Tuesday in Muse Lausanne, will gather 1.000 people next year ! Pioneer of social networking, 15 years ago she founded Rezonance (40’000 members). 

LESLIE STARR,
Founder of Uploader and co-organizer Jelly Summer Workcamp, Toulouse (France)

Leslie Starr is a freelance interpreter. Leslie is also the founder of «Uploader», a non profit association which aims to help develop coworking in rural areas. She also organises events like Jelly and Frozen-Jelly – a annual weekend in the mountains combining winter sports and coworking. Leslie has also recently jointly organised the Jellyweek SummerWorkCamp. 

 

GOTZON AUZMENDI,

Founder and General Manager of Prismaglobal, Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain)

Gotzon Auzmendi is the founder of Prismaglobal, a major communication agency in Spain, and has been active in the world of communication for the last 20 years. Recently, Prismaglobal joined its forces with a building company and a law firm with the aim to start a collaborative innovation project named”Ideas that create structure”. This be supported by a coworking platform in the Basque Country. According to Gotzon, Coworking is to help new colaborative projects to emerge. 

 

RAY LINDENBERG,

Branding and Marketing Director Select Office Suites, New York (US)

Ray Lindenberg is the Branding and Marketing Director of Select Office Suites in New York City. Ray has a weekly Column in The Business Leader Post with readership in 148 Countries called “Winning Workspaces”; is the author of the upcoming book, “Winning Workspaces: An Insider’s Guide To The Best Practices And Greater Profits At Today’s Serviced Workspaces”; and is scheduled to open a chain of Coworking Communities under the brand name “Hubbub”.

Jean-Yves Huwart is the founder of Global Enterprise and the founder of the Coworking Europe Conference. 

ANIS BEDDA,

Partner Global Enterprise, Brussels (Belgium)

Anis Bedda is a partner at Global Enterprise, co-organizing the Coworking Europe Conference and the Intrapreneurship Conference. He is also the event/marketing manager of The Hub Brussels, the first coworking space created in Belgium where he manages an event program around innovation and entrepreneurship related topics. He has extensive experience in events planning covering content, logistics and communication related tasks. 

 

JULIANNE BECKER,

Event coordinator Deskmag/Deskwanted, Berlin (US-Germany)

Julianne coordinates communications and events for Deskwanted and is the Programming Director of Social Media Week Berlin, Germany’s biggest free web conference. She is a filmmaker and communications specialist, originally from Saint Louis in the U.S. She moved to Berlin from Vietnam, where she worked as a film advisor and communications manager for WWF.

JOEL DULLROY,

Co-founder Deskmag/Deskwanted, Berlin (Australia-Germany)

Before launching Deskwanted, Joel Dullroy was a journalist and cultural organizer. He moved from his native Australia to Berlin in 2008. In 2010 he joined with Carsten Foertsch to create Deskwanted and Deskmag. In September 2011 Joel led Deskwanted in organizing Social Media Week Berlin, a major conference discussing trends and changes in society. 

DENIS GUIBARD,

Vice-President Sustainable Development Products & Service Orange, Paris (France)

In 2006, Denis Guibard became Vice President “Innovation and New Ecosystems” within France Telecom Group Strategic Marketing, in charge of developing new businesses adjacent to France Telecom-Orange core businesses. Since October 2008, Denis Guibard is in charge of Sustainable Development for Products and Services where he turns sustainable development into value creation opportunities. 

XAVIER de MAZENOD,

Founder of Zevillage.net, Paris (France)

Xavier de Mazenod is a consultant and partner at Adverbe, a company which specializes in web communication and influence. He is also the founder of zevillage.net, an information website and a social network for telecommuters and coworkers (@zevillage). 

 

PETER SCHRECK,

Initiator of the platform Coworking.de (Germany)

Peter Schreck from cologne (germany) is the initiator of the german coworking platform coworking.de (www.coworking.de) and Coworking Cologne (www.coworkingcologne.de). As founder and director of Idea Republic (www.idearepublic.de) he loves to inspire and produce co-innovation projects and events.
