Spanish coworking operator Cloudworks opens a new 4.400 m2 big space in Barcelona.
The new space is divided into a ground floor, with a multipurpose area with a room for events and an interior patio, six floors of offices and terraces with green areas. In addition, the company has designed the new space as a serviced office and private offices with a total capacity of 550 desks and 150 people for events.
Founded in October 2015 by Sergi Tarragona Fenosa, Cloudworks accommodates a community of more than 2.900 professionals, across 14 locations, covering a total of 28.000 m2 of flexible workspaces. In 2023, the company generated a turnover of € 10,3 Mio. Cloudworks operates in Barcelona and Madrid.
According to Cloudworks’ CEO Marta Gràcia Vilar, the company is not going to open new centres in the remainder of the year or in 2025, and is going to focus on consolidating this year’s openings.
“It will take a couple of years for the sector to reach maturity. “In the end, we come from a highly fragmented sector, where each operator only managed a space of 200-300 square metres, and this is growing and growing and there will obviously be consolidations within the sector”, comments Marta Gracia. In terms of market share, in relation to the total m2 of office space, the aim, according to the CEO, is to reach 5% of flexible offices in Spain , “which would be where the most developed markets are now”. She also points out that “there is much more room for growth” and could easily reach eight, nine or ten percent. Currently, Madrid has around 2% of flexible offices and Barcelona 3%, observes an article in EJE Prime.
“Being in a coworking space allows you to know how much you spend each month, and if one month you need more space you pay more, and if you stop wanting it you pay less. By setting up an office with the best services, hiring a coworking provider can mean savings of 25% to 30%”, thinks Cloudworks’ CEO.
Sergi Tarragona, the founder of Cloudworks, will be a speaker at the upcoming Coworking Europe 2024 conference in Sofia (Nov 13-14).
