British Coworking Operator Work.Life Launches Childcare Service Trial for School-Aged Children

Coworking provider Work.Life is piloting a new initiative that redefines childcare services in flexible workspaces by extending support to school-aged children. This August, its flagship location in Farringdon, London, will host a free on-site kids club in collaboration with wellbeing specialists The Happy Human Project and creative agency Defiant.

The program, scheduled for 11 August, will convert Work.Life’s event space into a dedicated children’s hub called dream.play.grow. Unlike  workplace childcare options that cater primarily to infants and toddlers, this initiative targets older children (The Happy Human Project supports children between 3 and 12 years old), offering a day-long workshop focused on emotional skills, storytelling, and hands-on creativity. The aim is to help children build confidence and learn to manage emotions while giving working parents the opportunity to stay productive on-site.

According to children’s charity Coram, says this IBBonline article, covering the six-week summer holiday period now costs families an average of €1,280 (£1,076) per child, with regional increases of up to 13% compared to last year.

Elliot Gold, CEO and co-founder of Work.Life, said the initiative responds directly to the pressures working parents face during school breaks: “As a parent myself, I know how challenging it can be to juggle work and childcare, so we wanted to trial something that genuinely supports our community.”

The 15 available spots were fully booked within minutes, with a waiting list in place. Depending on feedback, Work.Life plans to expand childcare partnerships in future locations, potentially making such services a regular feature of its coworking offering.

Founded in 2015, Work.Life operates 11 locations in the UK, mainly in London and Manchester.
