German coworking pioneer betahaus opens its 11th location in Europe

“We are thrilled to announce a new milestone in the history of betahaus: today, we have successfully concluded a management agreement with GSG Berlin for a brand-new, 11th Betahaus location at Moritzplatz in Berlin,” announces Madeleine von Mohl, CEO of Betahaus, in a LinkedIn post.

Betahaus is one of the pioneers of the coworking industry in Europe. It was among the first international coworking brands to emerge on the continent. As of today, the company operates locations in Germany (Berlin, Hamburg), Spain (Barcelona), Bulgaria(Sofia), and more recently, Romania (Bucharest), primarily through franchise agreements.

“Moritzplatz is not only one of Berlin’s most vibrant hubs for creativity and startups, but it is also the place where our journey began in 2009, in collaboration with GSG,” noted Madeleine von Mohl. Betahaus had moved out of its original Moritzplatz building several years ago but has now returned to the district. “With this new location, we aim to create yet another space for collaboration, inspiration, and growth—perfectly designed to meet the needs of modern businesses and creative minds.”

GSG Berlin, one of the largest providers of office, commercial, and warehouse spaces in the city, manages nearly 1 million m2 of real estate, making it a key player in Berlin’s property landscape.

A Historic Connection
For those following the coworking movement, the second Coworking Europe Conference was hosted at Betahaus’ iconic historical building at Moritzplatz back in 2011. This new partnership marks a meaningful return to Betahaus’ roots while looking toward the future.

Madeleine von Mohl is set to be a speaker at the upcoming Coworking Europe 2025 Conference, taking place in Berlin on November 19th and 20th.
