Italian Healthcare Company Sanitalia Acquires Toolbox Coworking Hub in Turin

Sanitalia, an Italian healthcare services group, acquires Toolbox, a coworking and innovation hub in Turin. According to Corriere della Sera, the real estate deal is not yet official, but the sale to the cooperative is reported to be well advanced. Sanitalia is acquiring the building from a Turin-based family that owned the property, while the future plans for the coworking space have not been officially disclosed.

Toolbox was founded by Aurelio Balestra in 2010 with the aim of creating a collaborative environment for startups and creative industries. It hosts a community of startups, freelancers and companies, and has supported the development of projects such as the Italian fintech unicorn Satispay.

According to Corriere della Sera, Toolbox has grown significantly over the past sixteen years, expanding from 1,000 sqm to around 10,000 sqm. The site now includes around 800 workstations, hosts 150 resident companies, and reported turnover approaching €2 million in 2023.

The coworking space combines flexible workspace with event programming and business support activities. It regularly hosts networking events and initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration within the local startup ecosystem.

Aurelio Balestra and Toolbox have supported Coworking Europe since its launch in 2010, making them one of the conference’s longstanding partners.
